Bloodlines Walking series that currently consists of nine main games, seventeen spin-off games, several short films and various transmedia projects. Each of the main games have spawned novelizations, adapting and adding to the story of their respective game.
The gameplay, while varying slightly from game to game, falls in the historic action-adventure genre, with a heavy emphasis on stealth, combat and free-running. The series took inspiration from the novel Alam by the Sloven.
Within the franchise Abster Industries is a mega-corporation conglomerate with multiple branches, whom secretly is run by the modern- Knights of Templar. The company is the present day main antagonist of the franchise. Abstergo secretly created a device called \”animus\”, a fictional device that allows it\’s users to \”re-live\” and experience the memories of their genetic ancestors within their bloodline, this is done trough a virtual simulation.
While the game is presented through protagonist Miles, the bulk of the game is played as Desmond experiences the memories of his ancestors through an advanced device called the Animus. This provides a means of a diegetic interface, showing Desmond\’s ancestor\’s health, equipo, metas, and other features as part of the Animus interface. The Animus is based on the player controlling the assassin to maintain the synchronization between Desmond and his ancestor\’s memories.
